Over the course of 2011 tablet computers took over the marketplace as laptops became smaller, tablets became the must have item, and smartphones grew larger involving into machines that practically are strong enough to equate to a mini-computer in themselves.  For businesses, the development of new technology also lead to a number of new security issues as companies faced large hacking threats and the fallout from Wikileaks proved that even the largest companies such as Amazon are not isolated from the threats of DoS threats. With so much that went on last year, one has to wonder what is still coming during 2011.

Coming up will be a large slant towards NFC chips that are installed in phones, likely with Apple’s iPhone 5 being the first to embrace the technology.  The inclusion of NFC chips is large given it will allow phones to be travel cards, credit cards, and even more.  Also expected will be the transition of online magazines to the internet world with more and more major publications such as the New York Times choosing to put up a pay wall to their communication and the online presence of free quality news will cease to exist.
